This Baselworld, KeepTheTime had the pleasure of meeting with Romain Jerome CEO Manuel Emch, and learned about how the company has embraced fluid design and created a watch that truly celebrates aerodynamics. The Subcraft watch is the epitome of this concept and a first of its kind.

For the Subcraft, Manuel Emch collaborated with his friend and renowned watch designer Alain Silberstein. Together, they came up with a watch that doesn’t have any straight lines, powered by a mechanical engine that makes four sophisticated complications look easy: lateral, linear, jumping, and retrograde. Romain Jerome considers this to be “one of the most complicated indications of time ever made to date”.

On both models, the hour display is read laterally, under a cambered glass, highlighting the curves of the case to perfection. The minute display has been placed on the lid of the watch, under a black sphere glass mirroring the fluid design of the Subcraft. The minute counter has been traced in white featuring sporty designed numerals. Finally, the crown has been tucked at the extremity of the case creating a protective shell over it. -Romain Jerome

The Subcraft watch can be had in grade 5 beadblasted titanium or black PVD-coated titanium on a smooth cuff style strap made from calf skin. The caseback features the signature of Alain Silberstein and the limited edition number.

The movement in the Subcraft is a mechanical self-winding caliber RJ2000-A. Manuel Emch told us that it took them 3.5 years to complete the design of this caliber. There are only 99 available worldwide.
